Original ACEO, 3.5 x 2.5 inches in size. Heart and background papers hand drawn in Photoshop and printed with a laser printer. Collaged onto canvas paper and colored with acrylic paint and ink. Techniques inspired by Claudine Hellmuth’s DVD “Collage: Textures & Techniques”. With my own twist, of course.

Heart #13 “Faux Worked Copper”
Posted by Gretchen under Graphic Design, Second Life Art | Tags: alpha channels, Art, copper, design, digital, faux, graphic, Heart, Photoshop, Second Life, The Little Gallery of Art |Leave a Comment
I am part of the online world called “Second Life” (click here to go to my Second Life scrapbook) and am extremely grateful to have an art gallery of my own in world. A few days ago my partner, Rick, and I opened up the heArt-a-Day wing at what is known as “The Little Gallery of Art on Peace Island”. In Second Life there are many, many opportunities to put Photoshop skills to use. Today’s heart is my first attempt at what I hope will be a decoration in Second Life. I’ve had to learn about “alpha channels” that makes it so the areas around the image are transparent. It was a teeth gritting experience. I’ll be giving it a test run later to see if it worked.
At any rate, this is today’s effort using Photoshop CS2 and a heart shape using some WoW! styles that I tweaked. If you want a copy of it you’ll have to come visit the gallery in Second Life.
(And for those of you in the know here is the SLurl to directly link to the gallery: Little Gallery of Art on Peace Island )

The other day “stickynotetheatre” left a nice comment here on the blog. The stickynotetheatre blog is well worth a visit. It’s about doing art on post-it notes, which is a fantastic idea! I was inspired to do my own.

Not For Sale
This piece is an original ACEO, 3.5 x 2.5 inches, done in colored pencils and pastels on Bristol board. The color is fairly true, but slightly different in real life. The word heArt is not on the actual piece itself. I drew this intuitively and as the imagery developed I felt that it was meant to be Mary, or the Madonna.
The word “heArt” not part of the actual artwork.
